Boulevard square design to Oulu

INARO designed a central square next to Alppila boulevard in Oulu. The main guidelines for the design were a pleasant soundscape, quality outdoor spaces and diversity in scale, architecture, and functions.

Sitting areas are located further away from street noise and there are trees framing the street. Seasons are considered in vegetation planning to create lively outdoor spaces throughout the year. Open spaces create room for many kinds of events and gatherings, while the square’s structures provide opportunities for varying functions from skateboarding to organising a picnic.
